| Biography
Following a late night in the heaving and sweating 'Thomas House' (RIP), Paula (Pee Pee) and Chris (Chris) found themselves dancing and singing into lamp shades till the early hours of the next day. That's all it took to convince Chris that Paula would be a perfect addition to a band he'd just started with two school friends Enda (Enda) and Dylan (Dilbot). Paula insisted there was no way she was doing this alone (ie being the only girl in a loud and smelly rehearsal room) and dragged mutual friend Caoimhe (Pony) along for support. With two out of the five members being female it was only natural that the girls got their way in all matters Chalets, so jeans and t-shirts were banned, costumes were sewn and a broad minded, fun loving pop philosophy was adopted. Ever since, The Chalets have being causing a stir on the Irish live scene winning rave reviews and packing out venues along the way, turning heads with their unique blend of sex, pop and gritty rock. As well as their own shows they have shared stages with much lauded indie acts such as The Shins, The Detroit Cobras and Holly Golightly. The Chalets have released one 7" single to date. Featuring the tracks "Theme from Chalets/Sexy Mistake". It was chosen by MTV as the backing track to their MTV Ireland branding campaign. November 2004 sees the bands' first release on CD (they're a little behind the times), a 4 track EP released on November 22nd on Setanta/Nastypop. The Nightrock EP features "Nightrocker", "Kiss Chasing", "Love Punch" and "David Boring". Their debut album is scheduled for an early 2005 release |
