Biography

Hogg (guitars/vocals), Hugh (guitar), Bailey (bass), Richy (drums),

They rock, they kick & they smoke like bastards.
They are from Sheffield, they play loud guitars and sing songs about fucking…or not…as Bailey (Bass) says : “no maths involved”.
They drink like the rest of Northern Britain & might just be the missing link between Lemmy & Mark E Smith :- certainly they are a British antidote.

HISTORY: Armed with a tape of lo-fi demos, Hogg scraped various friends and acquaintances from off the floor of the Leadmill, their local.

Hugh, Bailey and Richy swore a blood oath to the cause and, soon after, Hoggboy had Steve Lamacq and the NME frothing at the mouth.

Live shows with The Strokes and The White Stripes followed. “I thought it was about time I put a band together and stopped being a lazy cunt,” Hogg recalls. “I wanted to be in a band who performed in a similar way to I do, which is full-on, lets have it, while maintaining an air of coolness. But, unfortunately I ended up with these three.”

APPEARANCE: Four untrustworthy extras from ‘The Wild Ones’ or, possibly, ‘The Great Rock ‘N’ Roll Swindle’ dressed, identically, in tight-fitting leather jackets and skinny Levis. Hogg: “You’re in a band cos you think you’re in the best fucking band in the world. If you don’t think that, what’s the point? So, let’s all look the same, let’s all get pissed the same, let’s all act the same..”
Hugh: “….let’s all shag the same bird..”
Bailey, thoughtfully: “Oh yeah, that’s happened a few times. Anyway, next question…”

SOUNDS LIKE: The Stooges and The Sex Pistols scrapping in a massive Marshall amp.

PASTIMES: Smoking, drinking, girls, arguing who gets the next round in, hunting (Richy), listening to Bon Jovi (Bailey). “Slippery When Wet’s a fucking classic,” he insists to hoots of derision.

FAVORITE COLOUR: Black and blue.

LIKES: Catching last orders rather than doing an encore, short sets, being described as ‘erotic rock’, having one name each: “We’re on a friendly tip.” Kicking ass, “Give us the opportunity,” promises Hogg “, and we’ll kick ass”, star charisma…”I’m not bothered whether the public deserve it or not,” says Hogg simply. “I deserve to be in the best band in the world. Surely, it’s all about being the coolest bastard in the room at that time? Then you’ve got four people competing to be that coolest bastard, and I win every time.”

DISLIKES: Pissy indie bands, Stereophonics, being launched off the top of cars at high speed, Jamiroquai, horses, coconuts, the general public, students, Hoggboy.

RECENTLY
It’s been a busy year. The 1st single came out to great excitement from Radio 1, Channel 4, The Face, Dazed & Confused, NME etc…and by April they were playing their 1st shows in America – supporting Yeah Yeah Yeah’s at the legendary Mercury Lounge. When they return to New York in October, no doubt the NYPD will greet them with open arms…long lost friends and all that :- Last time they managed to get arrested 6 times in 4 days, with Hogg being ordered back in May for his court case. The trip also included a close encounter with the New York Fire Department and an eviction by a very large, very irate landlord.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS SO FAR: Electrocution, all day benders, most Saturday nights, burning with Krouse, smashing up Bar 38.

FUTURE: The debut album has been produced by Chris Thomas (Sex Pistols, Pulp, INXS, Beatles etc), tempted out of a 5 year retirement to spend weeks in the grim raining streets of Sheffield because they were the first new band to excite him in all that time. The rest of the album is produced by Richard Hawley : friend and sometime mentor to the band (“you don’t want to do that…its minty and its wank”). It contains the Hawley produced debut single ‘So Young’ and the follow up ‘Shouldn’t let the side down’ as well new single ‘Upside down’.
After a headline UK tour in October (starting on Oct 11th & ending with a live broadcast on Radio 1 on Oct 30th with The Vines) they will fly to Japan and Australia to tour and then back to the UK via New York to see their new friends.

LAST WORD: “The kids need us,” Hogg insists. “What else have they got?”
